‘Sundara’ Sunday – Brunch in Bali

Jimbaran beach and the famous Jimbaran Bay are located on Bali’s southwestern coast. The land gently slopes away from the beach revealing exclusive celebrity haunts hidden under a canopy of leafy tropical forests. Jimbaran is the realm of luxury hotels, the likes of the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay. This is where you will find ‘Sundara‘ meaning beautiful in Balinese. Tucked away in a corner, a sea facing restaurant with beautiful views and brunch menu to match it 🙂

It has beautiful views, beautiful food and beautiful people…

Here is a glimpse of what we ate and drank 😉

The restaurant has an amazing view of Jimbaran Bay, try it out in the evening to catch the sunset and enjoy the DJ session over some cocktails!

Oh Lyonnais! – Aux Lyonnais

Lyonnaise-style charcuterie platter

I spent many years as a child feasting in France, thanks to my father who loved his food and introduced us to it at a young age. One of my favourite memories of child hood was tentatively dipping my spoon into the hot bowl os Quenelle. First the sauce creamy with lobster and then the wonderful taste of Brandy! Ah!, it was a moment of anticipation and then pure joy. Continue reading

Ice in Your Whisky is not a Sin

ice in my whisky

It’s time to come out of the closet. It’s time to get this off of my chest. It may shock some of you to hear what I have to say. It may even drive you away to other sources for your whisky reading pleasure and/or advice. I hope not, but hey, I need to be authentic, and above all, trustworthy.

Ok, so, here goes…

It’s okay to put ice in your whisky.

Kebabs somewhere in Kazakhstan- But don’t know where…

We met a wonderful bunch of people in Almaty. Friends of friends… The hospitality we received from them was however, like we had been friends forever! They took us too this amazing restaurant, about a half hours drive out of Almaty. I don’t remember the name but if someone recognises it will they please do me a favour and fill in the blanks??? It was a cosy log cabin, lined with warm fur skins. Glass all around to you could admire the white wonderland that had developed overnight! This was October, we had landed in Almaty for a Trap shooting Championship. It was a warm and beautiful 28 Degrees C. The next morning we woke up to this!!

Sexy Shanghai!

The two Chinese characters in the city’s name are 上 (shàng, “above”) and 海 (hǎi, “sea”), together meaning “Upon-the-Sea”. It is split in two by the Huangpu River into the area of Puxi (浦西 Pǔxī) West of the river, versus Pudong (浦东 Pǔdōng) east of the river. Shanghai has everything. It’s glitzy, sexy, smart, beautiful, cultural, loud, cultured and the women are gorgeously dressed!

Shanghai

Pudong (浦东 Pǔdōng) is Shanghai’s newest district on the eastern side of the Huangpu River, full of gleaming skyscrapers rising out of what was mere farmland only 15 years ago.
